Real World Star Trek Gadgets

There’s a cool article here listing the various Star Trek inspired or influenced gadgets that we have now, 20 or 40 years down the line.

Tricorders, phasers, touchscreen and even teleportation – each of thesae pieces of technology has been developed to varying extents, but of course the most obvious is the classic series flip-open communicator.

The 1960s take on what we now call a mobile phone is a considerable piece of design. There’s very little to set it apart from what we know as a cell phone other than it’s lack of genuine communication technology. As a prop however it is an insightful piece of design.
