Nokia Emergency
I found myself without a phone recently when I went away and forgot the charger for my PDA. Help! I cried, had a think, and then got up and dropped into the nearest store, where I picked up a Nokia 6111.
This silver-facia wearing little bundle of fun leaped out at me as my eyes scanned the phones on offer, as did the promise of a built in radio and email software. The night out I had planned meant I needed a camera, and although 1 megapixel is a low spec, the 6x zoom and camera software on the phone more than makes up for this.
The Nokia 6111 also fits into many a trouser pocket without leaving an unsightly bulge (something that my PDA just couldn’t do, although you should have seen the looks that bulge attracted…) and like many other phones at the moment has a funky slide-open design, as well as Bluetooth and infra-red for swapping photos. There’s also Java support for running games and any other software you might download, and an XHTML browser (which means any web page you browse to should look pretty decent on the 262k colour TFT display.)
O2 offer the phone on a superb 12 month contract with 11 months free, and the most popular bundle is the 400 minutes/500 texts package.
It’s also available on T-mobile’s Flex-t tariff, with an 18 month deal (8 months at 99p!) at 900 minutes and 1800 texts costing £35 a month.
There are several incarnations of the phone, such as usual black and silver, a sexy, feminine pink, and designer classics Cath Kidston Pink and Cath Kidston Red.
