OLPC 2
This striking development of the OLPC is the next stage in one of the most unusual yet inspiring stories in computing history.
The next version will consist of dual touchscreens on a single spine while including a keyboard, face-to-face, and ebook functionality. The aim is of course squarely to direct the OLPC2 at children, and a swish touchscreen eBook is the form-factor that has been given the task of educating the poor and the remote.
A browse of the photos will show that there are various aspects to the device that have been borrowed from previous laptops and notebooks over the last 15 years, and it really does look like the OLPC2 will hit the mark, merging the World Wide Web, educational tools and online collaboration between young students in developing nations.
Very exciting!
